WHAT WE BELIEVE

THE WORD OF GOD

The Holy Scriptures are the inspired word of God. The foundation upon which our lives must be established and the standard by which everything must be compared and measured. God is still speaking to humankind through His (written) word today (Matthew 7:24-27, 2 Timothy 3:15-17).

THE GODHEAD

God has revealed Himself as the triune God; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Three separate personalities who function as one entity. Each equal in authority and power. Self-existing, self-sustaining. Co-existing from before creation. Each playing an integral part  in  the creation, salvation and sustenance of humankind (Matthew 28:18-19).

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The second person of the Holy Trinity (God incarnate) become flesh (John 1:1-5 and 14). Equal to God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. The Messiah, the only means by which humankind can be saved and reconciled to God (Acts 4:12, Romans 10:9-10).

Jesus Christ:

  • Was born of a virgin named Mary by the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 1:26-38).

  • Was (became) a man and lived the life of a human being (John 1:1-5 and 14).

  • Was tempted in every way as we are except without sin (John 8:46, Hebrews 4:15).

  • Perfectly fulfilled the whole of the law and will of God (Matthew 5:17, John 4:34, 5:30, 8:46).

  • Suffered, was crucified and died on a cross as our substitute, in our place, as though He had committed our sins. He was made to be sin and shed His blood so that we may become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).

  • Was buried - placed in a tomb - for three days and nights (Matthew 12:40, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

  • Descended into hell, Hades - the realm of the dead, where He preached to the spirits (souls) in prison (Matthew 12:40, Acts 2:31, 1 Peter 3:19-20).

  • Rose from the dead on the third day (Matthew 17: 22-23, John 2:19-22, Acts 10:38-41, 1Corinthians 15:3-4).

  • Is now seated at the right hand of the Father with all authority and power and everything under His feet (Matthew 28:18, Acts 2:32-33).

  • Is coming again to judge the living and the dead (Matthew 25:31-46, 2 Timothy 4:1).

HUMANKIND

Humankind was created holy and righteous; "In God's image, according to His likeness (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7), but through a free will decision, chose to sin - as a result of the temptation of the serpent (satan), was separated from God and his only hope of salvation is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and His shed blood.

SALVATION

It is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and the work of the cross that all are saved and reconciled to God (Ephesians 2:8-9). As a result of this sacrifice, humankind now has the means by which to be forgiven, cleansed of sin, reconciled to God and filled with the Holy Spirit (John 14:16, 17 and 23, Acts:32-33).

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is a person - is and has a personality (John 14:16, 17 and 26, Ephesians 4:30). He is the person, nature and character of God the Father and God the Son, given as a promise of the Father to, and indwells all who believe in, accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord and have been born again (Acts 2:29-39, Gal 3:10-14, 22-25). He is not just a wind, force or power but comes with manifestations of power (1 Corinthians 12:1-11). Developing His fruit (nature and character) in and bestowing the anointing, gifts, ministries and offices of the Spirit to believers as He wills (1 Corinthians 12:11, Galatians 5:22-23).

THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit have not passed away but are still in operation today. The Holy Spirit distributing them to believers as He wills. To fulfill God's perfect will in the Church and the world. To bring the believer to spiritual maturity in Christ and to bring the lost to salvation through believers; the Church - the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:1-11, Ephesians 4: 7-16).

WATER BAPTISM

Water baptism is a necessary step in the process of salvation symbolizing the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Commanded in the Scriptures to be observed by all who have already been born again by repenting of their sins, accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and savior and receiving the Holy Spirit. Water baptism is the outward expression of the salvation that has already taken place in the heart and life of a person who has been born again. A public declaration of faith where the believer identifies him or herself with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and salvation through Him (Acts 10:47-48, Romans 6:4).

THE LORD’S SUPPER

(Holy Communion) was instituted by Jesus Christ with His disciples and humanity in turn through symbols of bread and wine. The bread and wine representing the body and blood of Christ and the new covenant we have in God through the work of the cross and His shed blood. Observed regularly in obedience to the Lord's command to; "do this in remembrance of Me." (Luke 22:14-23, 1 Corinthians 11:24, 25 and 28).

THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER

To be saved, one must be born again of their own free will (John 3:3-8, Romans 10:9-13), baptized in or indwelt by the Holy Spirit (the born again baptism) and can only then be baptized in water. Every believer who is born again has the right to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire which is the endowment of power (anointing) given by God necessary for service, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit for ministry (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4-8, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31).

THE CHURCH

The Church is the Body of Christ on earth. The means (organism) through which Jesus Christ reveals Himself and manifests His saving, redeeming, healing and restoring work in the earth. Each Christian, born of the Spirit, is a necessary, integral part of the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Ephesians 2:19-22, Hebrews 12:23).

THE BLESSED HOPE

Jesus Christ is returning to gather all His saints to heaven (1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 1Thessalonians 4:16-18).

THE MILLENIAL REIGN OF CHRIST

After the seven year tribulation period, Jesus Christ will come again with His saints in glory as the conquering king to judge the living and the dead. He will physically reign on the earth, with His saints, for one thousand years during which Satan and his demons will be bound and thrown into the pit, unable to tempt mankind to sin. After the one thousand years are over Satan and his demons will be loosed from the pit to tempt mankind a final time after which they will be thrown into the lake of fire with the beast and false prophet and all who rejected Jesus Christ and His eternal redemptive, work. Then there will be a new heaven and a new earth (Revelation 19:20, 20:10-15, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, Revelation 19:11-16, 20:1-7, Revelation 21).
